Intensive collaboration between industrial partners Netzsch and GEA and research institute Wageningen UR resulted in a design for an economically viable and environmental friendly biorefinery process to obtain dandelion rubber. Several trials were performed in Hanau (D), Selb (D), Oelde (D) and Wageningen (NL), ultimately leading to a complete process from harvest to rubber purification. Samples showed high purity and high molecular weight of the rubber. Further compound testing will be done.
Currently, preparations are being made for a large scale biorefinery process trial.
